Program Offerings
Learn and Grow with the Herd Summer SessionsRegister today for our Learn & Grow with the Herd Summer Sessions. This 5 day summer program engages learners in interactions with our equine partners that builds confidence, academic engagement and growth, and social emotional skills. Horse Powered Reading® & Math integrates social-emotional learning with academics and is so much fun. Our program is run by an educator with almost 20 years experience, our amazing Mental Health provider team and incredible volunteers.
Be Empowered by the Herd Middle school Girls Group We are so excited to be starting our Be Empowered by the Herd group for middle school aged girls for our Spring sessions. This has been a well attended program that helps middle school aged girls navigate, with the support of the group and equine partner, some of the challenges that teens are faced with at this age.
This 6 week journey will include a 1 hour group session with other middle school aged girls and our team, which includes our Equine Specialist, Mental Health provider and of course our Equine partners. We will explore the following topics; coping strategies, communication, building positive self esteem, managing conflict, recognizing healthy vs unhealthy relationships and healthy choices. This will all be done through experiential ground exercises and tasks with the group and our equine partners. The sessions will be on Wednesdays from 5pm-6pm starting April 23rd. We will end on Wednesday June, 4th as we will not have class on May 14th. The cost is $250 for the 6 sessions. An invoice will be sent for a $100 non refundable deposit to hold your space upon receipt of your registration form and phone meeting to confirm. A final balance of payment will be sent after the first session. We do offer sliding scale payment if financial assistance is needed. Horse Powered Reading® & Math integrates social-emotional learning with academics. Thus, allowing students to see and experience reading with their entire mind, body and emotions by creating metaphors for the skills involved in reading and math.
Students interact with horses from the ground, while using toys and props to identify obstacles and learn five critical reading skills - phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Lead with the Herd |
Equine Leading and Learning, a curriculum created by Pal-O-Mine, which we are calling Lead with the Herd is a 12 part, experientially based curriculum focusing on leadership skills and character education for elementary and Middle School aged children. The program is both innovative and engaging as it cultivates and reinforces leadership skills and character traits that will empower todays’ youth. Students will develop skills that allows them opportunities to become successful listeners, communicators, role models and good citizens.

Grow WITH THE HERD |
Learn with the Herd is an 8 session experientially based curriculum focusing on social emotional skills that our students set as their goals. The activities will be created around these skills and students will explore these skill sets with their equine partners. Some focus skills will be regulating our emotions, communicating, problem solving, persevering and building confidence.

Reading with Roury & Friends |
Come join us or let us come to you for a fun reading event with our mini horse Roury. Hear a read aloud about our donkey Ricky, called New to the Herd. After the read aloud and Q&A time about Roury, participants will be broken into stations where they can have fun with a variety of reading/writing/or math based learning activities. Each participant, if they choose, will have the opportunity to visit with Roury or one of her friends one on one, to get the chance to read a book, tell her a story or just brush her. EQUINE ASSISTED THERAPY PROGRAMS
We will be offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions in the future. As with our EAL programs, all of our EAP sessions are non riding sessions and consist of only groundwork with the equine partners.
